How u guys? Life here in GP is just peachy. Weather has been great, bit of welcome rain here and there, 1 more month of articles(which really doesnt provide any huge answers on my future, but more questions...), oh how time has flown. Anyway...

You know I was thinkin the other day, yes rare occasion, har har whatever, and actually even had a discussion about it with some rather deep brothers, and it dawned on me....

How often have you thought to yourself or asked a friend this question..."whats the meaning of Life?" or even still "what is my purpose?" "why am i here"...
My answer to those questions are what does it matter? you are here, and thats all that should matter. We tend to live our lives trying to categorise everything, trying to find a meaning to everything...place something in a box so we can understand it better..., i think by us doing this we tend to miss out on the full experience of life and whatever else we are trying to categorise, and fail to see the whole picture. I guess its human nature to want to classify something as X so it helps us relate to it better, but I think that is a crock.

Life is here to be lived right here right now, forget about the what ifs, the why's..., the whatevers, if u had an unfortunate incident, trust me, u r not the first neither the last that will have such an incident, the key is to learn from it and move on. We are so preoccupied with giving meaning to things and experiences, that we tend to lose the plot and also block off the things that we could experience. The why me's, the what is s\he actually up to detracts(if i used it correctly ofcourse) your attention from fully experiencing what is going on. I say experience it, if it doesnt sit well with you discard it and move on.


I say live for the moment, be good to your fellow human, dont kill, steal or comit adultery(hard for some), think good thoughts and promote good thoughts, focus on what u r doing, and follow the teachings of YOUR God. Bottom line all that lives will die, once u accept that, focus on the time inbetween. The key to your life is within u..it is what you make of it....everyday u experience life in a different form, so live it up!!

Hope this all made sense, there were just so many thoughts floating around my head...

Whats happenin boyz and girlz??

Trust u all had a jammin week and a blissfull weekend. We up in Jo'burg were blessed with great weather and guess what i had absolutely no drama last week. Yes thats right!! But the question really is, if a tree falls in the woods and there is no one there to hear it, will the sky still be blue??

Before i go on, i need to clarify what i was trying to say last week about Sani Abacha's kids, i think i was a bit ahead of myself and forgot to complete my sentence. Basically what happened was the state offered them $100mil of their fathers riches and the rest was to be returned to the state, to this the children's response was HELL NO!! hope this is a tad clearer.

Have I got a conspiracy theory for ya'all.... U c how America is struggling to gain support for its campaign against Iraq. Well what better way to get Australia and the rest of the world up in arms, than to throw a firecracker into a nightclub at a very peaceful holiday resort.

Yes it sounds far fetched and all, but how has Australia changed its tune, and is now up in arms, waving kangaroos around and waging war on terrorism. Think about it...

How hard would u work, if at the end of the day u would earn R25 for a hard days manual labour? My guess is not helluva hard, u say what R25/day, and to my friends in the land of the pound, that translates to a mere 1.52 quid a day. That is insane right. What can u buy with that, some will say but that is better than a kick in the gonads.

But honestly imagine spending the whole day in the blazing heat, doing some brutal manual labour, energy reserves hugely depleated, and then its payday, woo hoo. Most probably will cost u R7 in terms of transport to and from your place of work that leaves u with R18 for the day. Then u get home, wife and kids to feed. Bearing in mind that a loaf of bread costs R4.50 and a litre of Milk roughly R5.00. Lets not forget about gas to cook, school fees, etc... At this rate who will live beyond 40 years??U spend most of your day slaving away and u don't earn enuff to replenish the lost energy, go to bed, wake up with depleated energy levels and the cycle continues....trust me if u r sittin at a PC reading this mail life really aint no where near bad, and i doubt it ever will be for u.

I find it so sad that this could happen in a country as advanced as this is, and trust me South Africa aint no Africa, this is bloody heaven, compared to some actually most african states! A country that can afford to spend billions on arms, millions entertaining certain african leaders to broker a peace deal in their country, a country that can spend millions to enquire about what happend to its currency and yet produce no results?? On the other side of the tracks there is a mother setting up a fire, placing a pot of water on the the fire, her kids grouped around the fire with the hope that maize meal will follow into the pot, with this in mind they drift into a peaceful sleep....

Hey all,

Thanks alot to those who mailed me this week plenty appreciated. I tell u that is what is missin in this world now -a-days, people who actually care.

I just dont get it anymore, i mean fok it, I so aint no saint, but what is going on in this world?? I hear stories and i....i just dont know!! For instance i hear that Sani Abacha (former Nigerian President)' s kids have been offered by the state an amount of $100 million and the rest of their fathers 'wealth' which most people are aware or lemme watch my words...what is alleged to have been obtained at the peril of his people. Now for the state to actually agree to this i think was very noble of them, but you know what the kids say..."No", its too little, bloody hell $100mil is enough to keep a small third world country going for decades!! but they say NO!!

Then there is the bomb blast in Bali, Ba-friggin-li, what is the worst thing a person in Bali could do, say please could I have a pina colada, but use an orange umbrella not a pink one, for petes sake, what goes into a persons mind to decide, eish those people on holiday in Bali are really pissin me off, lets go drop a bomb in a nite club!!

Then there is the Ivory Coast, one of the most peaceful african countries (well used to be anyway), brothers are hungry, but would rather spend money on ammunition than feed their families, i care not what reason u give me, it just dont make sense.

And to cap it offf, we have a psycho sniper floating around in washington potting off people like he is at a fair and shooting those clay pigeons....

Oh wait but to put the cherry on the top, some smart ass has decided that no they are gonna pull Smirnoff Ice from the shelves.....cut a brother some slack y dont u.

I just dont get it

I think we have a lot to do with the wrongs of this world. Nobody seems to give a flying f**k anymore, I mean like here, child abuse and rape is just an everyday thing, u read about it u say oh well, poor kid and then u ask Melanie next to u what she had for breakfast...

U know the song, sing it with me..."what the world needs now, is love sweet love..." and this is so a time for it cos war is upon us, and i think its gonna b nasty!!

Hope you all had a well enough week and are lookin forward to this one.I on the other hand had one of those weeks from hell. Yes thats right yawza is about to vent...again. U kno how shaite happens in 3's... well I was unsuccessful with my application at JP Morgan, was gonna be a ripper deal, i applied for a trainee investment banking post, 12 weeks in SA and then 2-3 years in London/New York, would have been a blast, getting to travel and still move on career wise. Then my car gets keyed(someone took a key/nail and deliberatly scratched a line), from the left panel over the wheel, a huge part of the boot, and the right panel, R3000 odd later, wonder who i pissed off, and to top off a fab week, yes u guessed it a woman. Must admit i would have even considered doing the backstroke from Cape Town to Robben Island...ya i heard that...but Yawza u can't really swim...yes i know. I hear some of u guys saying, Yaw u big gay, and i say maybe...i got it a big red hot chimango(i am sure u all can decipher that, if not its similar to getting carrots, but Umtata flavaoured carrots) and i am not gonna act like a hero about it, but i suppose lesson to be learnt!! Guess i should have been more aware, bloody hell i wrote about it only 3 weeks ago!!

I guess i should look on the bright side and say at least i am blessed enuff to have a car, fortunate enuff to have even been considered for the position, and at least spent some time with the las, but today i say F**K THAT, lemme find or catch wind of the mother that keyed my car!! The other 2 i guess i cant do much about, just shaite to think u aint good enuff. Right nuff said, anger and dissapointment shelved moving on....

For those who dont know this week saw Jimmy Carter, a US president that most thought of as pretry arb, being awarded the Nobel Peace prize, my first response was who the..., what the....why the...(think it was after i cound my car keyed ;-)). Anyway did some research and here is what i found about the man.

Born 1st Oct 1924, James Earl Carter, grew up in the deep south (Georgia) as a farmers son. In 1977, he was elected as a democratic president after Nixon, which couldnt have been easy after Watergate and all. So he gets elected makes his speach, in which he quoted from the bible "but to do justly,and to love mercy and to walk humbly with thy God" gets off the podium, says sorry for the bullet proof Limo and off he strolls 1.5 miles from Capitol to the White House. Pretty Brave. On his first day in office, he pardonned all Vietnam draft evaders ( i am sure the great Muhamed Ali was one)...that was a indication of the man's character. Anyway his greatest achievement in office was bringing Menachem Begin (the then Isreali president) and Anwat Sadat (the then Egyptian president) to Camp David for peace talks. The 2 countries had been technically at war for 48 years, anyway after 12 days of negotiations they reaced an agreement that led to the withdrawal of Isreali troops in Egypt and free passage of Isreali ships thru the Suez Canal. Another part of the deal was supposed to lead to peace in the Middle East as a whole...guess that one failed somewhat! Begin and Sadat won the '78 Nobel Peace Prize. Anyway this wasnt good enuff for his people cos there was high inflation and huge unemployment in the States during his tenure as president, and in 1981Ronald Reagan gave him a hiding in the elections.

Boy should have taken a chill pill and start playing golf, but not Mr Carter, he was circling the globe lookin for opportunities to do good. He started a Carter Centre in Atlanta and this centre has been moitoring elections in third world countries since '89. It has observed 36 elections in 22 countries. The centre also looks at ways to improve agriculture as well as reduce diseases in Africa.

One of his aides had this to say :"someone once said that he is the only American to use the presidency as a stepping stone to greatness".

I think he has done well, doing good and all, but one cant help but wonder if he received the award as a swipe at Bush and his insitance on using millitary action against Iraq...that whole millitary strike action i guess is a topic for another week.

Featuring on the decks will be DJ Wickins, who i think plays some kick a*s house tracks, he is havin a jam on the 2nd Nov, which promises to be a party with a difference from midday till midnite, pools Jaccuzis and the whole schweet deal, so that will be an opportunity to hear his stuff. More on both of these later.

I am so sure that its someones birthday this week, but unfortunately my diary says it not, so to all u all celebrating a b-day this week, plenty happy returns!!

Looks like this weeks mail was a bit of a stirer, just the way i like it. had a few responses, mostly from women who were up in arms, I will post 3 of the responses here, below, i think they make for a good read! Oh by the way, it wasnt about me, for sure i have been there...plenty times, but i thought i needed a topic that would get us talkin! You ladies might be right when u say its from both sides, but i aint no las, so i call it from a mans point of view, i will accept that it might be one sided, but hey???!!! And yes i do agree its all about communication, no games, just say what u think/feel.

Oh my goodness I can't say enough how I DON'T agree with you. You are reducing male-female relationships to the worst kind of stereotype and at the same time failing to see how this problem arose. Men always complain that they don't understand women. But they don't really try do they? There is much more focus on understanding men. Most of our history is the study of male history, by far the majority of the great "people" of the last century were men. Not so much, I believe, because there were simply no female achievers, but because the world is geared to measuring and appreciating accomplishment on a male standard. Most of the films you see are directed by men, most of the plays you see as well. We are bombarded constantly by the male perspective. It's no wonder women know more about men than men do about women. How many "women's" movies/books/issues does the average guy show an interest in?

(as an aside, that Mel Gibson movie was the most insulting portrayal of what men think goes on in a woman's mind I have seen in a very long time)

And secondly, women go through just as much trauma as men do - they worry just as much, in fact I think sometimes more, about hidden meanings and will he, won't he, should I, shouldn't I, etc etc. And for every childish girl you meet who says she does this on purpose there is some prick doing it right back to the women.

My point is that you can't place the blame for misunderstanding between the sexes squarely at the feet of women. Gender-based stereotypes are harmful and insulting to both men and women. If we could all get past defining ourselves as men/women first and people second (just like we need to define ourselves as people before we define ourselves as a particular race/culture/religion etc) we will be a long way down the path to understanding each other.

The thing about chicks is the same as the thing about guys. The problem is honesty and communication. We, as a human race have lost the art of communication. It has become a technology which is now a predominantly visual medium. We no longer take the time to sit and listen (and hear) each other. Life is so fast paced, that we now have to express our intimate chemistry through little games, interludes, innuendos in the hope that someone may be receptive to them and follow-up in some way. As a female, I know, that if I express interest in a man or anyone for that matter, whether it be by saying something small, a look or even a kiss, it is the hope that I will have the opportunity to learn more about that person in the future. Whether that potential relationship would be a friendship, a lover, a husband or a simple acquaintance you get to bump into occasionally, it is all done in the hope of spreading love and interest, in whatever form that may be.

I think the key is to be honest though. If you want to know what is going on, ask! You don't have to necessarily ask directly, but it is very easy to get a good idea of where you stand with someone by spending a few hours with them. I have found day time best for this because there is usually less chance of the two of you getting sozzled and further confusing the problem with hazy recollections of gargled speech.

So now I've decided to tell people exactly what's going on. The problem is that we fear rejection, so don't always tell people how we feel about them. Rejection is inevitable, but acceptance is sublime! Speak to these ladies of whom you write. Tell them you are interested to know them, in whatever shape or form of relationship. Females like to have interest expressed, even if they may not be interested in the man as part of a romance, there is nothing wrong with being interested in a man as a person, and if they are not interested in the man as a person, then they are on a different path and should be left to follow that path. That is not to say you cannot meet them again on that path.

Hey, throw caution to the wind. Life is so full of mundane atrocities and dark places. We have no problem with watching death and destruction on TV and talking all about it, yet we are hassled about showing another human affection and love.
