Crazeee gun man drops 32 kids and himself in the USA. Just randomly. Car bombs drop 157 people and counting in a market in Iraq…I know not!! Y do we hate each other so? Zim 20 years today I think and what do we remember that once great country by?

Morning sports fans, how proud I was to be a South African yesterday when the cricket boys, in the face of some fierce criticism decided to step up to the plate in grand style against the English, maximum respect to the boys. Sport is a beautiful thing ey?!
Quick personal experience…and really all I can do is laugh…It was less than a week ago I was chatting to a mate of mine. She asked how I was and I said to her, I cant honestly remember when things have been so good for so long. I mean in all facets of my life. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a new movie out, I mean what more can u ask for? Don’t get me wrong, there were challenges every single day, but I was loving the challenges, I was just in such a good space. But I said to her I am worried cos it really cant be so good for so long some ka k is going to happen.

And guess what? Today was that day that some ka k happened. I woke up early this morning (sounds like that Kelis song with Andre 3000) anyway so I had the debate with myself. This debate generally starts when winter rears its head. The argument is do I go to gym now or after work. Anyway decided to read my book and at quarter to 7 I decided to head on to gym cos I was supposed to meet a mate there at 7.15 (we didn’t confirm it tho). So off I go on my merry way. The way wasn’t merry for too long. I had stopped at a robot behind a row of cars and I noticed this grey golf behind me, has he seen me, will he stop, shi t I cant go into the other lane cos there on coming traffic, will he stop, will he…BOOOM and a mighty BOOOM it was, catapulted me into the car in front of me, he into the car in front of him, he into the car in front of him…Oh no! Not Snow white too!!! Only 3 months old! Ambulance came, very quickly like they tend to do in SA, those damn vultures, My baby is in ICU! Eish! All I could do is get out my car and scream, the other people must have thought I was crazy! I just screamed profanities, and then did something rather dom (stupid for those non-afrikaans speaking people)…I kicked a wall. Note to self, never kick a solid structure cos there will only be one winner and its name is not Yaw.

Eish sorry guys, that song has been in my head for about 3 days now and as I was typing I got the urge to sing it for u guys, think someone is trying to tell me something…ok so where was i? so that was my morning I was bleak for a good half hour maybe longer and I got the lesson out of it…Don’t go to gym…at 7am its gonna kill me J no but seriously in the space of 4 months, 2 very arb car accidents on a Wednesday, at 7 am, going to gym…hmmm!! Nah but u know what I think the message was, I think…(other than an accident), if I want to get philosophical about it. It’s the big guy trying to tell me that I am more than my car, which I guess is a good lesson to take…hard one but que sera sera, and it damn sure could have been worse. And me kicking the wall other than being but pure stupidity…it serves as a reminder for the next few days, that walls are hard, but more so… u r more than your material possessions. Cos at any time they can go or be taken from u and then who or what are u?

Speaking of possessions, cos this was meant to be my original email…And its not supposed to be an email, but more of a discussion point because I am sure there are many of us who have differing views on this

So what about this new ‘fad’ The Madonnas and Brangelinas of this world going to third world countries and adopting little orpans. What’s your take on it? I was having a discussion with a mate of mine Tas about it the other day and she made a decent point as to what if Britney wants to adopt a child? Do they let her cos she has bucks? Where does it stop? I look at it logically and in my mind I see no wrong with it to be honest. Fair enuff that child will grow up not knowing his or her culture. But ey? They wont know their country of birth…but ey?! To me its pretty simple. These orphans are being given a chance of a life and a fairly decent one. So what if the adopted parents’ intentions may be to get a human fashion accessory? To me as long as the Madonnas and Brangelinas of this world want to give these kids a better life I cant really see any issues here.

Then there is the question of Britney, what if she decides she wants to adopt a child from the Congo? Tough one…She has lots of cash, lots of helpers, but is she fit to be a mother to her own children let alone adopted children? Does it matter? I mean will the orphaned children not have a better opportunity of having a ‘fair’ chance of life if they were to be adopted by her and raised by her support staff? Is that not more or less the same as being in an orphanage? Only difference is this is a high class orphanage..

Pretty deep quote hey!

For those who were looking for some deep and moving email this week I am afraid I am all out of deep. Gotta love April in SA its littered with public holidays, its beautiful. 4 more days of Lent to go and you can go back to your weird and wonderful ways.

Friday is the day known to Christians as Good Friday. The name ‘Good Friday’, as per Wikipedia, came from early English name Godes Friday which meant Gods Friday and it underwent metamorphosis into Good Friday, kinda like God be with ye became goodbye. Well Good Friday is the start of the Easter weekend, commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus at Calvary and his resurrection on Easter Sunday.

So now why do I tell you all this that many of you might already know, well I have been thinking about this for a while and someone please tell me where the Easter egg and Easter bunny fit into this whole story?

So I went onto the good old www and found some interesting things about both of these things. Now from what I’ve read, apparently since time in memoriam, the egg has represented mystery, magic, medicine, food and omen (here I thought it was just stuff we got from chickens that made our muscles grow and farts stink J). During Pagan times, the end of winter and the earth once again bursting with life was likened to an egg hatching and bringing forth life. Many people way back when believed that the egg had special powers, I mean imagine this oblong object today… chicken tomorrow, it’s a kinda magic. So strong were the perceived powers of eggs that they were sometimes buried in the foundation of buildings to ward off evil, pregnant young Roman women used to carry them around foretell the sex of their unborn child, French brides used to step on eggs before they entered their new homes.

Enter Christianity…the focus of the egg representing the rebirth of the earth shifted to represent the rebirth of man. The egg symbol was likened to the tomb from which Christ Rose. The egg was thus symbolic of the grave and life renewed. There is Polish folklore that tells of Mary Magdalene giving eggs to the soldiers at the cross. Apparently in Eastern Christianity, eggs were forbidden during Lent, you were forbidden to eat meat or dairy (dairy was anything that could be taken from an animal without drawing blood…and eggs were considered dairy).

There are a couple of ‘stories’ around how and why easter eggs are decorated. One such story is that of Mary Magdalene telling the soldiers that Christ has risen, and gave them a red egg, the red being symbolic of the regeneration of humankind as a result of the blood shed by Jesus’. Another interesting one was a Polish legend about Mary M going to the grave to anoint the body of Jesus. She had a normal basket of white shelled eggs with her as a meal and when she arrived there and uncovered the basket, the white shelled eggs had miraculously turned rainbow in colour.

So in a nutshell, Easter = death and resurrection...life renewed….Egg = seemingly inanimate object…few days later bursting with life…just incase I was waffling earlier

So where does bugs bunny come from?
Well up north, spring is around the corner, this happens to coincide with Easter. Eggs, Rabbits and Hares are symbolic of fertility…life. (just as an aside female rabbits can actually fall pregnant with another litter whilst already pregnant..hectic). Its pretty arb but they just came into being as a result of myth and folklore…

Whose morality is it anyway?

  The world and people have become even more fascinating for an inquisitive soul like mine. Let's start with a simple question that most...
