“She's out of my life, She's out of my life, And I don't know whether to laugh or cry, I don't know whether to live or die, And it cuts like a knife, She's out of my lifeIt's out of my hands, It's out of my hands, To think for two years she was here, And I took her for granted I was so cavalier, Now the way that it stands, She's out of my hands” Michael Jackson
For all those hardcore amongst us, now is a perfect time to delete this message and pick up the newspaper and read some story about the mom who slaughtered her 2 year old child.
How u all doing today, been a while and yes i have been slipping in the last 2 weeks but been pretty preoccupied, but i am working through it all, one day 'sanity' will prevail. Nowadays, I really struggle to find something worthy of debating or bringing to your attention and this week is no different, if its not the racial make up of the South African Olympic team its the situation in Iraq or the middle east or the US elections, so I have decided to put offer another piece of my life for scrutiny and ridicule or whatever, after all ain’t that what friends are for?
Many people keep asking me about my significant other and why no one has ever met her some have even gone as far as suggesting I am a closet case, (which I am not too aware of at the moment, but if that changes I’ll be sure to let you all know) but anyway when it comes to significant others, there is only one lass I know who has come close to fitting that profile in the last maybe 6 years.
Degs remember that Foreign students party at the Planet in Obs, a good few years ago, well that was when it all started. Mbumbs, Dave and myself waltzed to the doors and they said I think it was R15 for non members and R5 for members provided u have ur student card with the sticker showing u r a member of the foreign students society, we didn’t have our cards and that was irrelevant anyway cos neither of us were members. But anyway we got to the door and they ask for our R15, so I turn to the lass, lets call her Ann, and I say to her don’t act like u don’t remember us, after all those meetings blah blah (never met her before in my life), anyway she managed to convince her friend to let us in…now fellas, if that’s not a sign then I don’t know. Anyway as the nite wore on we exchanged glances and totally against true yaw fashion, I actually stepped to her to engage in dialogue, it was very cool, very calm and relaxed, no pretences nothing, got along like I had known her forever. We definitely connected on a level way beyond the physical, cos in my eyes she is one stunning piece of creation! (chi-ching). Anyway I guess the nite came to a close and I gave her my details and she said she would call, but there was a complication she had a man that she had been seeing for a very long time, so the odds on her calling were not looking good at all. Days, weeks, maybe even months passed, may not have been, but it felt like it…no call, didn’t even catch a glimpse of her on campus, in the mean time life went on, but I still remembered and hoped. Then one day whilst at work, God Bless that damn Health and Racquet job, guess who I bump into, yip u guessed it. We got to chatting she kinda let me know y she didn’t call etc. etc. well anyway I managed to twist her arm and she gave me her phone number, so we got to chatting and all, still don’t know her all that well, but got to know her and she is a really lovely lass…issues, but ey oh, oh ey, who doesn’t have em? Anyway she was still with her man so we were just mates and all, but the mates thing got a bit fuzzy over time.
We speak more than regularly; see each other once in a while…she stays in Cape Town you see, and Keith you thought all those trips to Cape Town were cos I missed u? J Anyway she had just stepped out of a long relationship and I am just always in my own little world so the fuzziness stayed as is, but still pretty aware of our feelings. Anyway whilst in the states she told me that she had been sent up to Jozi for ‘work’ J for at least a month, and even though I was having a pretty schweet time in the states, I wasn’t the least bit bleak to be leaving…ok just a teesy weensy bit. So anyway she arrived here and things were cool initially and the the c rap hit the fan, Jozi, just wasn’t treating her well work was c rap, car accident, phone got stolen, a ss of a landlord and to make matters worse I was being a bit of a turd too, but not through action, but more like through inaction, and I’ll wear that, but I have my reasons, everyday just felt like a test…a game, but no excuses here, excuses are for losers, oh wait Yawza that would be u!! J
She left yesterday, very bleak to see her leave, but very chuffed for her, cos she was just not loving this place. We had a fat chat at the airport which was really good. Where we stand, oh well…I guess my soul takes comfort in the saying ‘what will be will be’ the mind as we all know has its agenda. Definitely could have been more attentive at the risk of possibly being overbearing, but I guess live and learn, life’s a lesson...
